Yes, you can wash your vessel in the dishwasher, but in the top rack only as the heating elements used to heat the water and air dry the dishes are usually located beneath the bottom rack, which may cause nearby plastics to melt. Because of the unique shape of KOR products, we highly recommend hand washing with hot water, a small drop of dish soap and a bottle brush. Tritan™ (the transparent plastic that the vessel body is made of on all bottles styles except Vida) has been shown in tests to withstand 500 washings with no visible degradation. That means if you wash your vessel once a week, it should last 10 years or more (compare that to polycarbonate, the most common type of clear hard plastic used in water bottles, which started to degrade after only 30 washings in our tests). Allowing your vessel to air dry completely with the cap open will help to avoid unwanted moisture build up in your KOR and around the seals.
Specific Product Instructions
- Nava: Please remove the filter and detach the straw.
- Delta: Can be easily washed by grasping the entire cap assembly and twisting the cap counterclockwise. When you are done washing, simply twist back on by turning it clockwise.
- KOR ONE Chrome: Due to the special finish, we recommend HANDWASH only.
Keeping your vessel clean is important, especially if you are using it for any other liquid besides plain water. Daily washing of your bottle is necessary when you are using additive powders, liquids, vitamins, and non-water liquids, as these types of contents can smell or cause mold if residue is left in your vessel. Since our mouths naturally harbor bacteria, it is highly recommended that you do wash your vessel daily even when carrying just water.
No. KOR products feature stainless steel components in the hinge and within the cap assembly and therefore should never be placed within a microwave.
KOR vessels feature an innovative cap and seal that is completely leak-proof when fully closed. If you think your vessel might be leaking, please first check these potential causes to address the issue:
- Make sure the water leak is not coming from residual water that is trapped outside the spout and within the cap before closing (note: when filling your KOR, make sure you do not accidentally fill the cap with water as this water will spill when the cap is flipped close to seal the bottle).
- It is possible residual water has been trapped within the side trims of the KOR bottle when washing or refilling. Simply wipe the bottle surface with a dry towel or allow to fully air dry after cleaning.
- Be sure not to pull too aggressively on the handle as this can temporarily create a minor gap between the seal and spout, particularly if positioned upside-down. This could result in a momentary leak.
- Examine your round interior seal and make sure it is seated properly with no twists or gaps. If it is not on securely, the vessel most likely will leak. If you need a new seal for your pre-2013 KOR ONE or cap for your KOR Delta, you may purchase replacement parts at our shop.
KOR ONE, Delta: These styles feature an innovative hinged cap and threadless spout. The cap, hinge and seal have been designed to be completely leak-proof when closed. To close, be sure to firmly push down on the cap and ensure the latch closure has fully engaged. You should hear a "snap" sound when the cap is securely closed.
Aura, Vida: Simply turn the cap clockwise until it is tight, which puts enough pressure between the cap and the spout to seal it closed.
Pre-2013 KOR ONE: This style was designed to allow for complete cleaning of the vessel and spout seal. During normal use, it is tethered to the roof of the cap to ensure it does not get lost. To reconnect, simply push the seal along the cap rim. If you have lost your seal, you may purchase a new seal.
Aura, Delta, ONE (2013 and later), Vida: The seals are permanently fixed to the cap, so they should not come off while washing.
We don't recommend it as this may cause the vessel to crack.
We don't recommend it because the sides of the vessel may get very hot to the touch. Please do not submerge your KOR in boiling pots or witch cauldrons to zap away germs — refer to our safe cleaning instructions.
We don't recommend it since the KOR vessels weren't designed to hold alcoholic beverages and have not been tested for use with them (we can't be responsible if you do try it, but we won't tell either).
We don't recommend it because the pressure from the carbonation in soda pop, beer, sparkling water, etc. can build up inside the vessel and can compromise the seal, causing the vessel to leak or in some cases, break the cap.
Yes. The mouth of the KOR vessels is large enough to handle most ice cubes.
Yes. Before use, you should either thoroughly rinse your vessel with soap and warm water or run it through the dishwasher in the top rack.
KOR vessels weren't designed to keep beverages cold, but its wide mouth is great for dropping in a few ice cubes.
No. We sometimes hear this complaint about polycarbonate, steel, aluminum and HDPE bottles. KOR vessels are made from Eastman Tritan™ — or in the case of Vida, food-grade stainless steel — which has no odor and imparts no taste.
No. While made with durable materials and high quality manufacturing techniques, KOR Hydration Vessels are sophisticated pieces of engineering and are not intended for extreme physical conditions such as hiking or camping. The KOR ONE in particular must be treated like glass due to its tapered design and heavy weight. When cared for properly, any KOR vessel will provide years of pleasurable and practical use.
KOR vessels are designed to be completely leak-proof under normal conditions and with proper use. As long as the vessel has been properly closed, it should not leak in your bag. In the Delta and KOR ONE, listen for the “click” and you will know it is shut tight.
Nava was designed for use with potable water only. It will not remove harmful microbes, such as Giardia, which may be present in the tap water of some countries. We recommend only using Nava with potable tap water in the following areas: US, Europe, Japan, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Nevertheless we encourage you to ensure your water meets the equivalent or better of potable water in the U.S. for which the Nava was tested.
Nava's filter was designed for use with potable water only. Lakes, streams and other back country water sources may contain harmful micro-organisms such as Giardia. Nava's filter will not remove these.
We encourage you to bring Nava wherever you go! Just note that altitude or heat can cause pressure to build up in Nava, which will cause water to spurt from the mouthpiece when the cap is opened. To prevent this, twist the lid open about a quarter turn to release the pressure. Then tighten the lid back on, sip and enjoy! (This reaction is quite common in closed containers such as lotion bottles, snack bags and other straw-based reusable water bottles.)
No, because Nava is designed not to leak when held upside down.
If you want to drink flavored beverages, just remove the filter and the Nava will work fine. Otherwise, you might ruin the filter and/or cause your beverage to taste bad. For an even better filterless experience, just swap in one of our Nava Sport straws (coming soon). It will give you slightly better flow and sleeker appearance.
Yes, it will work fine. However, due to the large volume of the empty filter chamber, it will take somewhat longer to get water into your mouth on the first sip. After that, the Nava's air-tight seal will keep the chamber filled and you won't notice anything unusual on subsequent sips (unless you open the bottle which breaks the seal). To eliminate this problem and to provide a sleeker look when going filterless, we have created a special accessory straw you can use in place of the Nava's original straw. This straw will soon be available to purchase as the Nava sports straw.
The entire filter must be replaced when it has reached the end of its useful life. We have been very careful avoid excess material in the design of the filter. Apart from coconut carbon, the filter contains only two other ingredients: a small amount of polyethylene binder and a small silicon plug (about the size of your pinky fingernail).
If not replaced after 40 gallons, the filter will still be usable but will not be as effective. If you keep using it, eventually it will lose all ability to filter your water. We have not tested it beyond 40 gallons so we cannot tell you when this happen. However, there is no harm in going past the 40 gallon mark. The worst that will happen is your water will start to taste like what came from your tap.
The filter does not lose effectiveness with time, only usage. For example, if you have only filtered 10 gallons in 6 months the filter will still have 30 gallons of life expectancy. We state three months as a guideline because most people aren't measuring their water intake by the gallon.
We don’t recommend freezing a moist filter because the water will expand when frozen, which may lead to breakage. Therefore you should inspect the filter. If it isn’t cracked or broken, it will still function.
Unfortunately, Nava won't remove much iron from the water. Activated carbon is generally not very effective for that purpose.
Nava’s filter is primarily designed to make tap water taste and smell great. It does this by reducing the amount of chlorine in the water. It has been tested by an independent lab to meet or exceed the NSF Standard 42, Class II for chlorine removal. The activated carbon in Nava's filter also traps volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as benzine, but the filter has not been tested or certified for this capability. It is also important to note that Nava is designed for use with potable water only. It does not remove Giardia or other harmful microbes.
Nava's filter has been tested to reduce chlorine. While it has not been tested for the removal of minerals and other dissolved solids, activated carbon filters, such as the Nava's, are not very effective for such uses. Reverse osmosis filters and water softeners are your best bet for improving the taste of hard water.
In our tests, subjects gave high ratings to Nava's taste and consistently preferred it to tap water. But taste is also highly subjective, so we can't guarantee everyone will agree. It's also worth mentioning that many leading bottled water brands are simply filtered tap water.

Unlike coal, which takes millions of years to form and may contain heavy metals, coconut is a renewable and health-safe resource."
KOR Stones™ are disc-shaped inserts that fit inside the cap of the KOR ONE and Delta vessels. They're a way to personalize your vessel and a reminder of what's important to you. You can put anything you like on a Stone — a phrase that inspires you, the name of a loved one, your company's logo, even a picture. Once a Stone is inserted, it becomes visible inside the cap so every time you take a drink, you'll have a private, inspiring moment with your Stone.
Our Stones are printed on treeless waterproof paper by Fiberstone®, just in case you get any moisture in the Stone area while washing the vessels. When using your own paper or photo, it is advisable to remove it while washing the vessel.
Each KOR ONE and Delta vessel come with two Stones of pre-printed messages that inspire us (and hopefully you!).
We have several different sets of KOR Stones available online over and above the standard offering that come in your vessel when you purchase it. Take a look and see what speaks to you!
In the near future, we'll be offering some online tools that will make creating Stones easy and fun. If you print your own Stones at home, we want to caution you that the chamber where the Stones are inserted isn't waterproof. Washing your vessel or filling it too vigorously could result in your Stones getting wet. This could cause the ink to run or the paper to curl. If you create your own Stones, please remember to remove them before washing your vessel and be careful not to splash too much water on the cap when filling it with water.
KOR Stones are located underneath the cap insert on top of your KOR ONE or Delta vessel. The cap insert is the piece of rubber that sits on top of your vessel, directly under the handle. Simply lift the rubber tab and the insert will pop off. Then, insert your KOR Stones in the hollow area underneath the insert. Remember to place the Stones face down with any words facing the front of the vessel. If you're having trouble removing a Stone, just tip the vessel over and give it a little shake. Your KOR Stones should drop right out.
KOR Stones are printed on a unique recyclable, biodegradable treeless waterproof paper called Fiberstone®®. This special treeless paper is actually made up of non-toxic resins and ground up rock.
For best results, please follow the care instructions on the neck label. Generally, washing a t-shirt in hot water and drying it with hot air increases shrinkage; while washing it in cold water and air-drying minimizes shrinkage. T-shirts may shrink up to 1/2" to 1" in length and width.
Bisphenol-A, also known as BPA, is a chemical that is commonly used to make polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Polycarbonate is the most common type of plastic used in clear water bottles. BPA has been linked to a variety of health issues, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and early onset of puberty. The longer a liquid sits in a container made with BPA, the more of it leaches into that liquid. The hotter the liquid and the older the container, the faster this leaching occurs.
The controversy over BPA has escalated in recent years as more scientific data has accumulated. While government agencies such as the National Toxicology Program (NTP) and the Center for the Evaluation of Risks to Human Reproduction (CERHR) have called for a ban on BPA, the Food and Drug Administration believes these measures are premature and that more research is required.
As a company, we place the utmost priority on the health safety of our products. While there is still debate over the health impact of BPA, we didn't want to leave anything to chance. That's why none of our products contain BPA.

Nava's filter consists of small rod (about 2" 3/4 long) made from densely packed activated carbon granules. The manufacturing process starts with coconut shells that are heated to high temperatures, which converts them into activated carbon. The carbonized shells are then ground into granules of uniform size, mixed with a small amount of polyethylene binder and formed into rods that are heated until solid. A small silicon cap is attached to the end of each rod to help optimize water flow and cushion the filter during use.
Activated carbon has been used for thousands of years to purify water. Here's why: In its natural state, carbon has a strong affinity for absorbing organic compounds such as chlorine and benzine. Activated carbon is simply a form of carbon that has been processed under high heat to become extremely porous (in fact, a teaspoon of activated carbon has the roughly the surface area of a football field). Combined with carbon's natural absorptive properties, all that surface area enables a tremendous amount of absorption when water passes through the filter.
No. This is because the coconut carbon in the filter is held together with a small amount of polyethylene binder. Otherwise it would disintegrate quickly. We are investigating ways of making the binder from a biodegradable material and hope to make a compostable version of the filter someday soon.
Activated carbon is manufactured by heating organic materials to very high temperatures. This typically results in a large release of greenhouse gasses. Our supplier uses a proprietary process that reduces emissions by trapping greenhouse gasses and reusing them to produce thermal energy.
The short answer: We don't think its necessary to add any ingredients, but will consider it if there is enough demand.
Here's why (the long answer): Non-pathogenic, non-harmful bacteria occurs naturally in water and can be found to grow everywhere: distribution pipes, faucets, bottled water, filters, water bottles, etc. However, if the source water is micro-biologically safe, then the bacteria should be non-pathogenic. Due to the impact of water on public health, many studies have been done on this subject. Here is a quote from one authority on the subject (note: "HPC" is the term for non-harmful bacteria): "In summary, an overwhelming body of evidence from human feed studies, animal studies, epidemiological studies, risk assessment, and virulence data all confer there's no medical rationale to control HPC concentrations in drinking water." In fact, some experts argue that HPCs are useful because they drive out harmful pathogenic bacteria.
No, but we're working on it. Our primary goal was to provide a BPA-free product using a clear, durable material. Eastman Tritan™ was therefore the obvious choice for the vessel body on the KOR ONE, Delta, and Aura. But while Tritan is fully recyclable, it is so new that it is not currently available in recycled form. As the market for Tritan matures, we expect this will change.
In addition to Tritan, the side, top and bottom trims of the KOR ONE are made from ABS plastic. Recycled ABS is available, but we have not yet been able to find a supply that meets our requirements for color consistency and structural integrity. We continue to evaluate both recycled ABS and other recycled plastics and hope to someday offer a "recycled" KOR vessel that utilizes recycled materials for the trim parts.
You've probably noticed that many plastic products display a single digit code within a triangular recycling symbol. These are called resin identification codes and they indicate what type of plastic the product is made from. Recycling centers use these codes for sorting the different plastics into groups for efficient recycling.
Although the KOR vessels are made from recyclable materials, they fall into the number 7 category, which is reserved for miscellaneous resins (those that aren't covered in categories 1-6) and products that contain a combination of resins. As you can see, KOR vessels are made up of several different materials, while the numbering system only works on single material items.
Polycarbonate plastic, which contains BPA, also falls into the number 7 category. Unfortunately, this has resulted in news stories instructing consumers to avoid products displaying a number 7 resin code. KOR vessels do not contain BPA and we didn't want consumers to be confused about this. We therefore left off the code.
We also felt the code was confusing for another reason: it falsely implies that the product is easily recyclable. This is not the case for number 7 resins because very few municipal recycling programs exist for these.
It's quick and easy with our one-page checkout. An account at KOR is helpful to track your past and present orders or update any of your saved information for faster shopping in the future. To set one up, you'll either be prompted to start one upon checkout or simply go to the Account page.
Absolutely. If your order hasn't shipped, we can easily change or cancel your order. Just sign into your account or contact us. If your order is already on its delivery route, you can cancel it, but you must pay for the shipping cost. The remainder of your balance will be credited back to your credit card. If you want to cancel your order and you have already received it, you must pay for the shipping cost to send it back to our warehouse.
We strive to maintain a deep inventory on all products we carry. Occasionally, an item may run short and take 3-4 weeks to replenish. If this happens to you, we'll e-mail you a notification that an item in your order is backordered and that we'll place a hold until stock is replenished, as well as provide an estimated date of shipment. You may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Please keep in mind your KOR order charge only includes 1) the cost of your item and 2) the cost of shipping. Any additional charges for customs clearance are your responsibility as an importer. In rare situations, customs officials may choose to do random inspections, which can cause a delay (KOR has no control over these charges or delays and cannot predict what they may be). Customs regulations vary widely from country to country so please contact your local customs office if you desire further information.

Returns + Exchanges
If, for any reason, you are unhappy with your purchase at korwater.com, you may send it back to us within 30 days of receipt. As long as the product is in resalable condition, we will refund the purchase amount minus shipping costs or, if you request an exchange, ship new product. Please note the following:
- The item(s) must be returned in the original product packaging and in resalable condition.
- We will issue credit to the card used at time of purchase for the original purchase price. All accepted exchanges will be processed and shipped within 1 to 2 weeks.
- If KOR is unable to accept the return or exchange, you will be notified by our Customer Care team via e-mail or phone.
- KOR is not responsible for returns or exchanges lost in transit. We highly recommend using a traceable shipping service.
To return a purchase, please do the following:
- Request a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) online.
- Wait for RMA to be sent to you by our Customer Care team (usually within 24 hours).
- Securely package your items for shipping so they won't be damaged in transit.
- Include the following information inside your package:

KOR Water believes in providing a safe and secure shopping experience for all of our customers. Changes In Policy
All KOR Hydration Vessels are covered by a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects. If you encounter a problem due to defect in workmanship or materials, you will need to fill out a warranty claim. Please have the following information ready before doing the form:
- High quality photo of the defect
- Explanation of the defect
- Order number or location of where the vessel was purchased
- Your daytime phone number
- Your shipping address
Within 1-2 business days, we will confirm receipt of your claim. We may ask for more information or photos if we cannot determine the issue. If the issue cannot determined remotely, we may ask for you to ship your vessel to us for personal inspection.
If your vessel is approved under warranty, we will have the part or the vessel replaced in full.
Terms and Conditions:
- Warranty applies to original purchaser only.
- Warranty covers the product when used for its intended purpose only.
- Warranty does not cover problems caused by normal wear and tear, abuse, accidents, modifications or repairs not performed by KOR.
- If an identical replacement vessel is not available, we reserve the right to replace it with a comparable color and/or style.
- If you are located outside the United States, we will cover the shipping cost, but you will be responsible for any customs fees that may arise.
- Warranty gives you specific legal rights, but there may be other regulations that vary from state to state.
