KOR Releases $99 Hydration Vessel to Raise Awareness of Water

With Only 50 Units Worldwide, It's as Scarce as Clean Water

Fountain Valley, California (October 17, 2011)

KOR, an innovative lifestyle brand focused on water, continues its expansion into sustainable hydration with the exclusive release of a black KOR ONE Hydration Vessel. Following KOR’s 2009 reinvention of the reusable water bottle with the original KOR ONE, the KOR ONE Black has been limited to only 50 units worldwide and will be available for sale at KOR’s website for $99. The “$99 Hydration Vessel” campaign strives to capture the attention of and foster conversation among its global audience on the sanctity of water and the critical challenges water faces in this world — from our oceans and wetlands to the basic provision of clean, safe water for human life.

One hundred percent of all sales from the KOR ONE Black will support Summit Series and their partnership with The Nature Conservancy to turn 70 square miles of ocean around the South Berry Islands in the Bahamas into a fully functional marine protected area (or “MPA”). More than three-times the size of Manhattan, the South Berry Island marine protected area is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the Bahamas — but it's an MPA in name only. For more than a decade, there's been no infrastructure, no enforcement, and no protection. Funding of this project will help The Nature Conservancy transform the South Berry Islands Marine Reserve into the nation’s first no-take marine reserve, contributing to healthy marine habitats and species and supporting sustainable livelihoods for the people of the Berry Islands.

“Water is the life force that connects us all. Our ultimate goal with the $99 Hydration Vessel campaign is to inspire action and awareness of the sanctity of water,” says Barnes, KOR’s CEO. “I had the incredible opportunity to visit the Bahamas last year and go ‘shark-tagging’ with Summit Series and witness the incredible water habitat this region provides for ocean life.”

“It's a unique opportunity to create a lasting environmental and economic legacy,” states Thayer Walker, Chief Reconnaissance Officer with Summit Series. “I keep coming back to Yosemite— John Muir convinced Teddy Roosevelt to visit in 1903 and Roosevelt was so blown away, he brought the park under federal protection.”

The KOR ONE Black will be packaged with a limited edition pack of KOR Stones™ and a numbered certificate of authenticity and is a variation of KOR’s inaugural product, the KOR ONE Hydration Vessel. One percent of all sales goes to support a water cause through KOR’s Thirst for Giving™ program which is focused on ocean protection, global water crisis, watershed protection and container recycling. The KOR ONE has garnered many awards since it was first released in 2008, including the National Geographic “Best of Adventure Gear” in 2009 and attention from high-profile celebrities such as Oprah, Gwyneth Paltrow, David Beckham and a prominent feature in Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 2 in 2010.
